Industrial gypsum or gypsum is a calcium sulfate dihydrate (CaSO4.2H2O), essentially composed of calcium sulfate hydrate, and is generally white and translucent in color, with a micaceous, yellowish aspect, pearly luster, unctuous (or fibrous) feel, and low hardness (2.0), interstratified with shales, limestone, and clay. Can be also found in meteorites.
Application: cement manufacture, sulfuric acid manufacture, chalk, glass, enamels, gypsum, and in beer production. Also used as a mold for foundry, dehydrator, binder, and soil corrective, besides its application in metallurgy. Indicated for use in the manufacture of Portland cement. Particle size/mesh: 325
