The word “blending” within the mining context refers to making a mixture of ores. This is very common and is meant to mix substances to create uniform products. The idea is that out of two, a new one is generated.

Ore blending: understand the concept of the word and its relation to mining

First, let’s understand the word “blending”, as it will help us to understand what ore blending is. It means mixing ore to get a mix out of a couple of raw materials.
For example, it is as if you put gold and copper together and mix them, i.e. this would be the blending process so that out of this mixture something new comes out.
However, it is important to consider that, for such a mixture, we need to know the amount of material so that the result works. This means that it is not enough just to mix the components. It requires a balance. Of course, a good analysis of all this, an effective and thorough counting, will result in a low-cost process.

Ore blending: understanding the ore blending process

Within the ore blending process there are aspects to consider, such as the calculation of the bed fusion.
The percentage of raw materials in the charge is used in this calculation, followed by chemical analyses.

Ore Blends: get to know the reverse process of "blending" too

So far, we have talked about the ore blending process, how the blending process worked, as well as the calculations that must be done, to achieve the expected outcome from the two blends.
However, even though it is the opposite process, flotation is also an important step. It is an action to separate mixtures, that is, inverse to what blend does.

Flotation is a procedure often associated with minerals because this is the action used when we want to separate minerals.

Ore blends: knowing which ores should go through the blending process is important

When the time comes to make the ore blend, it takes more than just getting the ore. Actually, it is the other way around; it is necessary to perform a good analysis about it. In this sense, making a good selection and mixture of the minerals is a very important step, so that the result is profitable and assertive.

This is why the good analysis is necessary, for the action to be positive. In addition, the raw materials, both chemical and physical, must be in good condition. This is because using them properly is paramount to achieve a high productivity and cost reduction.

Ore blends - the importance of quality for cost reduction:

The mining process is not simple nor cheap. It demands time and investment in skilled labor. When it comes to seeking a labor force that has the necessary quality to increase the production level in a qualitative way, this must be done with caution.

This is because when we got to the ore blending process, as mentioned in the previous article, you saw that the more quality, the lower the cost and the greater the assertiveness. In other words, knowing how to execute the blending process in an efficient way will save the company a lot, not only will it make a profit, but it will also reduce costs considerably.

However, when it comes to a bad selection of raw material, especially, the need to redo the work arises, which leads to more costs and attempts. Therefore, this stage requires highly qualified professionals.

Conclusion

We have come to the end of this article; you have certainly learned a lot today, haven't you? The process of blending ores is closely related to the quality of knowing how to choose the best products in the best possible way.

This way, you are sure to get a good result. Nevertheless, also keep in mind that the more cautious the choice of minerals, the greater the profitability and the lower the cost.
